In this workshop, you’ll come along into the world of drawing and painting a nude model. Teacher and visual artist Martijn den Ouden was educated at the Rietveld Academy and the ArtEZ Academy for Art & Design Zwolle, where figure drawing and painting formed an important part of the lessons. During that period, Martijn developed his sharp eye, because by figure painting you not only learn to understand the proportions of the human body – but you also learn to look very carefully.

A nude model will be present for this workshop. Step by step, you’ll sketch a few different poses, after which you can work on a longer pose. During the sketching phase, you’ll work with charcoal, and you’ll have the option to use oil paint later. Experience is not necessary; this workshop is accessible for all levels.

Martijn graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, specializing in Image and Language. In addition to being a visual artist and owner of Schilderles Amsterdam, he is also a writer. From the vantage point of several disciplines, Martijn expertly guides you through your creative process.
