Skin is made up of a lot of color. It is almost like a mosaic. It is transparent and falls like a jacket over muscles and bones. This information is essential for painting.
We will work with a piece of your own skin. Visual artist and teacher Merel Jansen will teach you which colours you can place next to each other to obtain warmth or coolness and how important the direction of your brush stroke is. Finally, you will go home with a small self-portrait.
This workshop is open to everyone, even if you have never painted before you are very welcome.
About the instructor
Visual artist Merel Jansen graduated from ArtEZ/AKI in Fine Art Painting and the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. In 2023 she was one of the winners of De Nieuwe Vermeer, a competition and television programme on the occasion of the Vermeer exhibition in the Rijksmuseum. That same year, Merel exhibited in Museum Arnhem, with her own interpretation of The Ghent Altarpiece by Jan van Eyck. Her paintings can be seen in museum MORE next February.
